Transport

Goods in Transit Insurance

A damaged box, a truck accident, a container lost at sea: your goods are exposed the moment they leave the warehouse. This cover protects against damage, loss and theft during transport.

What it covers

Road transport

Accident, overturning, vehicle fire: damaged or lost goods are compensated.

Sea transport

Damage, sinking, loss at sea: the cover applies to container or bulk shipments.

Air transport

Drops, rough handling, cargo hold incidents: air shipments are also protected.

Theft and disappearance

Goods stolen during a stop, transshipment or interim storage: the loss is covered.

What it does not cover

  • Packaging clearly unsuited to the nature of the goods can void compensation.
  • A delivery delay alone, with no damage to the goods, is not compensated.
  • Normal wear, gradual deterioration or an inherent defect in the goods is not covered.

Who is it for?

You ship goods regularly

Every trip, domestic or international, exposes your stock to a risk of damage or loss.

You sell valuable or fragile products

Electronics, medical equipment, perishables: a transport incident weighs heavily on your margin.

You go through several carriers

Each handover point (road, sea, air) is an extra moment of vulnerability for the goods.

Frequently asked questions

Isn't the carrier already liable for damage?
Yes, but their compensation is often capped by international conventions well below the goods' real value.
Can I insure a single one-off shipment?
Yes, some policies work per trip; others cover all your shipments over the year through an annual policy.
Is theft during a truck stop covered?
Yes, as long as the security conditions set in the policy (guarded parking, etc.) are respected.
Does it also cover goods waiting in a warehouse?
Depending on the policy, short-term interim storage between two legs of a journey can be included.

These coverages often go together
